The Lucas Valley Community Church COOKBOOK has arrived

and is on sale every Sunday, in the Ministry Center from 10:00 to 10:30 am, and again after the second service until 12:30.

This church project grew into a mission to help the homeless of Marin. Sadly last year, the National Guard Armory Winter Shelter closed due to a lack of funds. The shelter had acted as an emergency safe place for many of Marin’s homeless. Now, we are just one of many churches in Marin who provide a weekly winter, warming shelter.

Last winter, at least 50 homeless men were welcomed to stay in our Ministry Center overnight, fed a hot meal and given a sleeping bag. We continued this program with the homeless women through April.

This year, in an inter-denominational and truly humanitarian effort, nearly 24 Marin County churches are banding together to replace the county shelter for four months hosting these folks nightly in a type of ‘revolving’ shelter.  Our cookbook sales will help to fund, feed and shelter the homeless here at Lucas Valley Community Church.

We also want to acknowledge a very special woman, former shelter resident and artist, Elizabeth Gerringer, for her generous contribution to our cookbook; her original, hand-painted artwork adorns the cook book cover.

This memorable collection includes beloved recipes from LVCC traditions like the Missions Fiesta Lunch, Alpha Dinners, Thanksgiving, and Coffee Hour; we hope you enjoy your cook book for years to come. They make a great gift and a timeless keepsake.  With nearly 300 recipes, this classically styled three-ring binder features a durable hard cover, tabbed dividers and includes a counter top stand. Pick up your copy today for only $20. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Bon Appétit!

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'”

“He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'”
